We are advocates for all people affected by Alzheimer's disease (AD):  As watchdogs over the healthcare delivery system, the RI Chapter monitors and initiates public policy which affects those with the disease. In a system where change is difficult and slow, we strive to be innovators and pioneers.

We are the vital education agency for health professionals and the public at large:  We bring together the family experience, the professional knowledge, and the public policy trends in order to maximize quality care for the person with AD, and provide compassionate support for the family members. We are the bridge between all involved in Alzheimer's care.  We provide a base for maximizing resources by providing an objective vital link for all organizations, families and healthcare professionals.

We are the premier voice for AD: The leading information, referral, and advocacy center, the resource that identifies and addresses the changing needs of families by AD.

We are the advocates for AD research at all levels:  In this capacity the Alzheimer's Association Rhode Island Chapter keeps alive the vision and hope that effective treatment, then ultimately a cure for AD will be found.

Just the facts

What happens in the brain of a person with Alzheimer's disease?
Find out by visiting Inside the Brain: An Interactive Tour, an exciting new feature on the Association's public Web site that explains how the brain works and how Alzheimer's disease affects it.

Support Groups are submitting recipes for a cookbook "Recipes to Remember" to honor or remember their loved one with Alzheimer's disease. We would like to ask you to submit recipes for family members past and present. We are hoping to collect about 500 recipes for the cookbook. Each recipe should include the name of the person submitting the recipe as well as whom you are honoring or remembering if you choose. Recipes can be emailed to Marge.Angilly@alz.org or mailed to the office. If recipes are mailed please make a notation on the envelope "COOKBOOK." Marge also would like a phone number for the person submitting the recipes if she needs to contact you. All recipes have to be typed, please no hand-written recipes as we do not want to make any mistakes. We are also planning to have a section of recipes from Rhode Island Restaurants and famous Rhode Islanders. Cookbooks should be ready in time for the holidays. Anyone can submit a recipe-the more the merrier!!! We hope you will join us in this effort to make this cookbook a reality.
