Safe Return
Did you know? Since 1993, Safe Return has helped reunite more than 11,000 people with their families and caregivers.
It's common for a person with Alzheimer's or a related dementia to wander and become lost. Many do repeatedly. This can be dangerous - even life threatening. The stress can weigh heavily on family and caregivers.
Alzheimer's Association Safe Return helps reunite loved ones with the person with dementia who has wandered. We provide 24/7 assistance, no matter when or where the person is reported missing.
How it Works
- Enrollee is reported missing
- Information and photo are faxed to local police, who help in the search.
Enrollee is found
- Citizen or police officer finds the person and calls the toll-free Safe Return number listed on the enrollee's ID
- Safe Return notifies enrollee's contacts, making sure the person is returned home.
Cost
$40.00 fee includes:
- Items featuring enrollee's ID number and Safe Return's toll-free number
- Jewelry
- Iron-on clothing label
- Key Chain
- Sticker
- Wallet Card
- 5 steps for a Safe Return refridgerator magnet to aid you in a quick response
Add $15.00 for caregiver ID Jewelry
- The caregiver wears this jewelry to alert others that he or she provides care for a Safe Return enrollee, in case of emergency.
Annual $20.00 program administration fee
