“Train the Trainer” Program The Alzheimer’s Training Consortium, a collaborative training program of the Alzheimer’s Association New England chapters, will offer a “train the trainer” program entitled: Care for People with Alzheimer’s Disease: A Training Program for Providers.
This program is designed to develop trainers in the Habilitative model of Alzheimer’s care. Participants will spend one day learning how to teach our curriculum and they will receive a curriculum package that includes all the lectures, handouts, tests, discussion questions, role plays and overhead projected materials necessary to teach a 12-hour training program to the direct care staff and a 4-hour training for indirect care staff. Once participants have trained their staff, they will receive certification to teach using our curriculum for the next 2 years. Who should attend?This program is for professionals working in the field of elder services wishing to become a trainer in Alzheimer’s care. Participants come from a variety of educational backgrounds—nursing, social work, administrators, therapeutic activity staff, and staff development specialists. The ability to reach adult learners from diverse cultures is the best predictor of success as an Alzheimer’s trainer. Continuing Education CreditsCEU’S are available to nurses, social workers, and administrators at no extra charge. Certificates of attendance are available for activities staff that can be used to obtain credit from their professional organization. Registration: Registration should be done by phone. Space will be reserved only when payment is received. Refunds will be given only with at least one-week notice. The fee will be $300 for one representative, $500 for two representatives and $100 for each additional representative.
